Big-picture ideas, built into the rooms where people experience them.

Design technology consultant. I help clients carry a design concept all the way through technical fulfillment, so the venue that opens is the one that was imagined.

Start a conversation How I work

01 / APPROACH

One line from the idea to the room.

CONCEPT

The vision

Shaping the big idea with the client: what the audience should feel, see and understand, before anyone picks a projector.

DESIGN

The system

Translating the vision into space, image, sound and control: technology chosen to serve the story, not the other way round.

FULFILLMENT

The venue

Delivering it on the ground, permanent or temporary, on opening night and every night after.

02 / INTEGRATION

Where design concepts become technical reality.

Most venues lose something between the rendering and the ribbon-cutting. The concept lives with the designers; the delivery lives with engineers, integrators and builders. I work in the gap between them, so design intent survives specification, procurement, installation and commissioning.

TRANSLATE

Intent into specification

Turning “what it should feel like” into sightlines, screen geometry, projection, sound and control requirements a contractor can build to.

COORDINATE

Every discipline at one table

Architects, AV integrators, content producers and builders, working from one picture of the finished experience.

PROTECT

The vision under pressure

When budgets tighten and schedules slip, knowing which trade-offs the audience will never notice, and which ones they will.

HAND OFF

A venue that runs

Commissioned, documented and operable by the people who will run it long after the consultants leave.

03 / USER-CENTERED DESIGN

Design from the person out.

The experience doesn’t start when the lights go down. It starts in the parking lot. I design every step of the visitor’s path, from the first look at the building to the seat, and everything in between.

  1. 01 · ARRIVAL

    The parking lot

The first look at the building. Is the way in obvious, and does it already promise something?

  2. 02 · WAITING

    The line

The queue is part of the show: it sets expectations, builds anticipation and keeps people moving.

  3. 03 · THE BUILDING

    The practical stuff

Where the bathrooms go. Where the stroller goes. Wayfinding and flow that make a family’s day easy.

  4. 04 · THE SEAT

    From the seat out

Viewing distance, resolution, contrast, spatial sound and room comfort, tuned for one person in one seat.

  5. 05 · THE EXPERIENCE

    The event itself

The show, the story and the walk back to the car: the memory people take home.

04 / HOW I HELP CLIENTS

An independent voice from concept to commissioning.

Permanent venues

Domes, theaters, museums and visualization centers, designed to perform for years, not weeks.

Temporary venues

Events, exhibitions and pop-up experiences: full impact, fast load-in, clean strike.

Technology vision

Owner’s-side guidance on which technologies fit the idea, the budget and the people who will operate it.

05 / BACKGROUND

From roll, pitch and yaw to full-scale venues.

I’m a technologist. It started at SIGGRAPH, then moved into immersive research at the Electronic Visualization Laboratory, where the CAVE was built, alongside work at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications. Then came hands-on production with AVW and Projection Video Services in Washington, DC.

Since then: display decisions for the Hayden Planetarium and the California Academy of Sciences, LITE in Lafayette from proposal to commissioning, a real-time simulation center for the geosciences at Weatherford, and working with companies from NASA and Boeing to Ford and Procter & Gamble.
